FrØm Somehere Behind the Pine Trees

2023 - ongoing

“To collect photographs is to collect the world.”— Susan Sontag

From Somewhere Behind the Pine Trees emerges from the desire to experience life without searching for a monumental narrative. This ongoing project chronicles everyday experiences, discovering ordinary occurrences and fleeting sensations. Using the camera to slow down time, collect and accumulate memories, I explore moments saturated with illuminance and nostalgia. Inspired by the Japanese notion of Komorebi — sunlight filtering through leaves to create a dappled effect and moving shadows — each frame explores the relationship between light and darkness. These images reveal the affective moments found in memories that, like the shadows cast by leaves in the wind, are gone in an instant. Through photographic storytelling, I delve into a cinematic exploration of the fragments that I gather from my everyday life, as I experience and photograph the world that surrounds me.
